The first time I saw Second Life my reaction was, “Wow, what if learners could fly around inside a you-name-it: heart, brain, cell, molecule, microchip, engine, nuclear reactor…?”
The challenge of course is building those things in Second Life.
Today I took a tour of the human testis in Second Life.
Dr. Douglas Danforth at Ohio State University has built a large-scale model of the human testis in Second Life for his undergraduate and medical students.
It’s impressive. (I predict that this will soon be on everyone’s list of things to see in Second Life.)
If you’re interested in teaching science in Second Life, scale in Second Life, or complex building in Second Life, you should check it out (SLurl).
(Also, he is looking for feedback on its clarity and usability.)
